We haven’t forgotten you all. It's taken a while to work through the process of obtaining three quotes for the restoration work. Our researches discovered that Sydney has only three companies working in the area of tomb restoration and Patsy Templeton has co-ordinated our approaches to all three.
• Monuments in Memoriam – Grant Skinner and Sach Killam.
These gentlemen are part of a specialist team based at Rookwood Cemetery and this is all they do, restore memorial monuments. Patsy Templeton met with them on site on 10 July. Here they are at work on the Warner 'altar monument' at Wiseman’s Ferry earlier this year.
• Stoneshape – Janutz Lieuczas.
A quote was received originally from this company, dated 12 August 2010. Janutz met with Louise Wilson and Patsy Templeton on site on 16 August to re-scope the work. Patsy took this photo of Louise consulting with Janutz.
• Traditional Stone – Kris Krawczyk.
Patsy Templeton has made three phone calls to this company, with no response forthcoming, so we’ve now given up on them.
The committee hopes to announce the final decision very soon, and our fund-raising plans. We’ll be encouraging you to think of making a donation to the project as a Christmas gift-giving idea for all those friends and family members who already ‘have everything’.
Finances permitting, it’s likely that work will commence next autumn, 2014, when the weather at Wilberforce should be more congenial for outdoor work.
