Family history research in recent years has revealed several omissions and a mistake on the plaque erected many years ago to commemorate the founders of Ebenezer Church. The current plaque omits the first wives of Paul Bushell (Jane Sharp) and William Jacklin (Mary Cardell) and also lists Paul's (second) wife as Elizabeth Brown when her name was Isabella Brown. Reference to this plaque is made on pages 277 & 278 of my book Paul Bushell, Second Fleeter.
The latest newsletter from Ebenezer Church advises that a new plaque with the correct details will shortly be unveiled at the church. This is very good news indeed.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday afternoon, 18 June 2011, following the 2pm service to commemorate the 202nd anniversary of the church. Afterwards, everyone is invited to stay for afternoon tea.
